Inspirations

Like many artists, Kari is inspired by the beauty of God’s creation. Trips to southwest Florida brought about a number of ideas for landscape, beach, and seascape scenes. Trips to her grandparent’s home in northern Minnesota bring inspiration to paint more rural settings: Kari is always inspired by the beauty of flowers!

She has also been inspired by her close friends. “I met renowned sculptor, Gloria Tew, and mouth-painter, Don Bania, during the same year, and I was able to tour their art studios shortly afterwards. They both encouraged me to push my creativity, giving me many new ideas and direction for my art.”

“A few years later, I was able to meet Joni Eareckson Tada, a world-known mouth-painter, song-writer and Christian radio talk show host for Joni & Friends. She, too, encouraged me to expand my sense of creativity.”

Inspiring others

Kari is also inspired by the need for other people to have the opportunity to express themselves.

Kari has found that painting is her voice. Through this website, Kari has decided to make reprints of her artwork available for sale. Proceeds from your purchase will go into The Expressions of Faith Fund to directly support art therapy and other programs that help people with disabilities find their own voices.

    Hi Kari,
Thank you so much for coming to Carlson yesterday and sharing your art with us. You were an inspiration and you made me feel like painting again! I had forgotten how wonderful it is to create art and you reminded me of that. Thanks again. Best regards, Debbie
